Dr. Joseph Lee attended grade school at St Joseph Elementary School in Leitchfield, high school at St Joe's Prep in Bardstown, and college at the University of Notre Dame majoring in Pre-Professional studies. He graduated from the University of Kentucky Medical School and then completed his Pediatric Residency at Akron Children's Hospital. Dr. Lee was Chief Resident during his last 6 months of residency. He is a Fellow in the American Academy of Pediatrics and Board Certified in Pediatrics with the American Board of Pediatrics.

 

Dr. Lee began practice in Leitchfield in 1976 in a small office across the street from the original Grayson County War Memorial Hospital. He was in solo practice for 17 years. Dr. Lee's wife, Nadyne, initially worked as his nurse, then in 1979, became a nurse practitioner and continued as a provider until she retired in 2007. Dr. Lee retired from his pediatric practice after 44 years in October 2020 but continues to serve on the Health Board and as the Medical Director of the Grayson County Health Department.

 

During his 44 years of practice, Dr. Joseph Lee was on the medical staff of Twin Lakes Regional Hospital, serving as president of the medical staff 3 different times. He has been on the Board of Health for the Grayson County Health Dept. for 46 years and has been the Medical Director for the past 8 years. Dr. Lee was the Secretary-Treasurer of the Kentucky Pediatric Society from1998-99 and President of the KPS from 1999-2000. 

 

Dr. Lee and his wife have 3 children, David, (Kelly) a general surgeon in Columbus, Indiana, Meredythe, a therapist with our local Communicare, and Mark,(Brandi) an OB-Gyn in Leitchfield. They have 4 grandchildren, Michael, graduating in 2022 from Notre Dame, Christopher, freshman at University of Denver, Aidan, sophomore at GCHS, and Connor, 8th grade at GCMS.

 

Dr. Lee is a member of St. Joseph Church and active in the music ministry. In June, he will be going on my 3rd mission trip with Global Health Volunteers to Chulacanas, Peru to serve the medically underserved people in this small rural city. Dr. Lee enjoys travel to new places, photography, and bird watching, and Notre Dame football.
